What’s your favorite Phuket hotel?

matt on Jan 23rd 2009

Phuket is a great place for a holiday. The reputation of this island in Thailand has soared over the years, leading to a large number of Phuket hotels and resorts being built, so you can be sure that any budget and style for accommodation is catered to in Phuket.

When you’re choosing your Phuket hotel or resort, you first want to think about the kind of budget you’re wanting to spend. Perhaps you want to splurge a little and stay in a high-end resort, or you may be looking for something a bit cheaper, such as one of Phuket’s budget guesthouses.

After deciding on whatever kind of budget you want for your Phuket hotel, you’ll need to give some thought to the location you want to stay in. Phuket is a fairly large island and so depending on where you stay, you will have a different kind of experience.

The most popular choice for Phuket hotels is for people to stay in Patong. Patong has a large number of hotels and resorts and it’s also the centre of the island’s busy nightlife scene. There are lots of restaurants and places to go shopping dotted all over Patong.

Slightly quieter but also a lot more expensive are the luxury Phuket hotels and resorts that you’ll find at the north and south of the island. This is where to stay if you want a romantic getaway without being surrounded by hordes of tourists all the time. You might not even want to leave your hotel.

After deciding on what type of Phuket hotel you want, you’ll be ready to choose on the booking agents to make your reservations. There are a number of trustworthy booking agents to choose from, so you needn’t worry about being ripped off or ending up in a dive somewhere.

Happy Hour Treats And Mexican Food

Laura on Jan 23rd 2009

The Iron Cactus in Austin, Texas has been rated as the 6th best tequila bar in the country. Having visited over the weekend (my wife and I love Mexican food and made a special trip to Austin for our anniversary) I can honestly say that I think it should be a little higher than 6th. The range and quality of tequila served in the rooftop bar (great atmosphere up there, and almost worth the trip alone. Certainly we’d be going there for drinks regularly if we lived closer) is mind blowing. And it’s reasonable too: a simple Margarita weighs in at just $4.

The dining area is full of people who must have heard this Mexican restaurant’s excellent reputation, and we had a short wait before being show to our table. The Mexican food on offer here was definitely worth the short wait, however.

I had heard great things about the fish tacos and tortilla soup, so that is what I ordered. The reviews didn’t do it justice! My wife enjoyed her dishes, too.

This is a great Mexican restaurant with great food, fantastic drinks, and very friendly and helpful staff. Credit to the team there: we had a fantastic time.
